Privacy policy

Plain version: this is a static site with no accounts and no forms. It may use Google Analytics 4 to count visits, the links out to GetYourGuide are tracked, and on some pages a Stay22 script may turn links to hotel booking sites into tracked affiliate links. Details below.

What we do not collect

There is nothing to sign up for on this site: no accounts, no newsletter, no contact form and no comments. We do not ask for your name, your email address or anything else, and there is no database here holding your details.

If you email us at info@atomicbombdome.com, we have your email and whatever you wrote in it. We keep it long enough to reply and deal with what you wrote about. We do not add you to any list.

Analytics

We may use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit, which pages they read, and roughly where in the world they came from. We look at that in aggregate, as counts and charts, and we make no attempt to identify individual visitors. We also count clicks on tour and hotel links, so we know which links are used.

When it is active, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and sends Google information about your visit, including your IP address. Google uses that address to derive coarse location data (city, region and country) and states that it does not log or store IP addresses from visitors in the EU, Switzerland and the UK.

Google processes this data under its own terms, which you can read in Google’s privacy policy.

You can opt out with Google’s browser opt-out add-on, or by blocking analytics scripts with a browser extension or your browser’s tracking protection. The site works fine either way.

Links to GetYourGuide

Tour links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one, a tracking parameter identifying this site and the page is added to the URL so that GetYourGuide can attribute a booking to us and pay the commission described in our affiliate disclosure.

Our tours page also shows a GetYourGuide widget. It loads from GetYourGuide’s servers, so your browser connects to them when you open that page, and they may set their own cookies.

Once you land on GetYourGuide you are on their site, under their privacy policy, and they set their own cookies. We do not receive your personal details from them. What we see is a count of bookings, not who made them.

Hotel links and Stay22

Some pages link to hotels’ own websites or to Booking.com and similar booking sites. On those pages the site may load a script from Stay22, an affiliate service. When you click a link to a booking site, the script turns it into an affiliate link so that the booking site can attribute a stay to us and pay the commission described in our affiliate disclosure.

Because the script loads from Stay22’s servers, your browser connects to them when you open one of those pages, and Stay22 may set its own cookies. Its own privacy policy applies to that. Once you land on a booking site you are under that site’s privacy policy. We do not receive your personal details from Stay22 or the booking sites.

Other outbound links

We link to official and source sites for what we write about, such as the City of Hiroshima, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and the transport operators. Those are ordinary links with no tracking added by us, and once you follow one, that site’s privacy policy applies.

Selling data

We do not sell personal data, and we have none to sell.

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. For anything you want to ask about it, including a request to have an email exchange deleted, write to info@atomicbombdome.com.
